Classic mail merge has one setting: send to everyone in the list. That works for a newsletter and fails for almost every operational email a business actually sends.

Describe a state, not a list

Conditional sending flips the model. Instead of preparing a list, you describe the state that deserves an email:

  • Payment = Pending
  • Status = Approved
  • Score > 80
