Getting started with Mailvern
Mailvern is a Google Workspace add-on that sends personalized emails from a Google Sheet through your own Gmail account. This page takes you from install to your first send.

What is Mailvern
Mailvern turns a normal Google Sheet into a mail merge tool. You pick the column that holds email addresses, write your message once, and Mailvern sends one personalized email per row.
Everything happens inside Google. Your rows stay in the sheet, the message goes out from your Gmail account, and campaign status is written back next to each row.
Runs in Sheets
A sidebar inside the sheet you already use. No CSV export, no import.
Sends from Gmail
Emails leave your own Gmail account and appear in your Sent folder.
Condition based
Email only the rows that match rules like Payment = Pending.
Why Mailvern
Most mail merge tools ask you to export a list, upload it somewhere else and maintain a second copy of your data. Mailvern removes that step.
| Task | Mailvern | Traditional mail merge |
|---|---|---|
| Prepare a list | Use the sheet you already have | Export and clean a CSV |
| Send only to matching rows | Built-in conditions | Manual filtering |
| Where data lives | Your Google Sheet | A third-party server |
| Who sends the email | Your Gmail account | A shared sending domain |
| Status of each row | Written back into the sheet | In a separate dashboard |
