How Mailvern works
Every campaign follows the same path. Understanding it makes each feature page easier to place.

The campaign flow
Each stage is optional except the sheet, the message and Gmail. You can skip conditions, attachments and tracking entirely.
Stage by stage
- 1
Google Sheets
Your recipients and their data. Mailvern reads the header row and the rows you select.
- 2
Mailvern
The sidebar where you choose the email column, the range and the campaign settings.
- 3
Email editor
Mailvern's own editor for subject, body, sender name, Reply-To and alias.
- 4
Conditions
Rules that decide which rows are eligible. Rows that fail are skipped and marked.
- 5
Personalization
Placeholders are replaced with each row's values right before sending.
- 6
Attachments
A file you selected is attached to the outgoing message.
- 7
Gmail
The email is sent through your own Gmail account and lands in your Sent folder.
- 8
Tracking
If enabled, opens are recorded and written back next to the row.
- 9
Analytics
Results roll up into the analytics dashboard for the campaign.
Status written back to the sheet
After a run, Mailvern writes a status for every row so you always know what happened.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent | The email was handed to Gmail successfully. |
| Opened | Tracking recorded at least one open. |
| Skipped – Already Sent | Duplicate protection prevented a second email. |
| Skipped – Condition Not Met | The row did not match your conditions. |
| Skipped – No Email | The email cell was empty or invalid. |
| Scheduled | The row is queued for a future send. |
| Error | Sending failed. The reason is logged for that row. |
